Mickalene Thomas is an American contemporary artist renowned for her multi-disciplinary practice encompassing painting, photography, collage, and installation. Born in Camden, New Jersey, Thomas received her MFA from Yale University in 2002 and has since become a pivotal figure in contemporary art, celebrated for her exploration of identity, beauty, and representation in the African American experience.
