Australian Photographer Peter Lik is purportedly one of the bestselling landscape photographers in the world. In 2014, it was reported that his photograph "Phantom", depicting a subterranean cavern in Arizona’s Antelope Canyon, was purchased for an amazing $6.5 million, becoming the most expensive photograph ever sold.
The photograph titled "Misty Forest" is part of the collection titled "Australia". Pulling from his deepest emotions and most passionate inspiration, the artist has explored the beauty and majesty of his homeland in depth.
This particular piece was created in the forest of Dandenong Ranges, a mountain range near Melbourne known as a lush haven of hidden delights comprised of fern glades, towering forests, and eclectic villages. The magnificent dappled trees appear as guardians of the terrain, almost as an otherworldly army of soldiers stepping out of this misty forest. The muted colors provide the image with an almost monochromatic feel, interrupted by lush greens of the vegetation in the fore of the composition. The artist explained that the image encapsulates the mood of imminence and expectancy he felt as he peered beyond the shroud of mist. “The sound of the bellbirds song rang in my ears, and the pure mountain air filled my lungs”.
The piece comes in professional, safe packaging. Certificate of Authenticity included. Free shipping.

About Peter Lik
The photographer Peter Lik is among the bestselling landscape photographers in the world. Pushing the boundaries of fine art for the past 35 years, he is best known for immaculate imagery of exotic natural environments that speak vividly.
It was a Kodak Brownie camera that he received as a gift from his parents on his eighth birthday that set his professional course. Entirely self-taught, he was honing his skills until making a life-changing decision of going to America in 1984. He was introduced to the panoramic camera there which he took back to Australia to capture the vastness and exquisiteness of the South Land. This turned out to be a defining moment in his life.
Capturing cascading waterfalls, ethereal mountain peaks, and peaceful desert canyons, Peter Lik has developed his unique visual style characterized by high saturation of the colors and digital manipulation process. Through specialized mounting and lighting, he provides his images with a feeling of luminosity and a sense of warmth, depth and glow. As he once explained, photography is all about capturing a mood, a feeling.
Lik garnered hundreds of prestigious accolades and merits over the years, including the title of Master Photographer from the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, Professional Photographers of America and Master Photographers International. He has also been awarded fellowships from the British Institute of Professional Photographers, The Royal Photographic Society and the American Society of Photographers. He has four galleries in Las Vegas and nine others across the US.
