Hunt Slonem's "Saturia" (2022) is a vibrant powder-coated aluminum sculpture that transforms the artist's iconic rabbit motif into a bold, contemporary three-dimensional form. Characterized by fluid contours, elongated ears, and an expressive, abstract silhouette, the sculpture captures the playful energy and distinctive visual language that define Slonem's celebrated body of work. Its brilliant fuchsia finish and highly reflective surface accentuate the interplay of light and shadow, while the sweeping curves and open spaces create a dynamic sense of movement. The sculpture's striking color and sculptural depth offer a contemporary interpretation of one of Slonem's most recognizable subjects.

Measuring 14 x 11.5 x 4 inches, "Saturia" demonstrates Slonem's ability to translate his expressive imagery into a refined sculptural medium. The durable powder-coated aluminum construction provides a smooth, luminous finish that emphasizes the work's dimensionality and distinctive contours. Created in 2022 as part of a limited edition of 55 numbered sculptures plus proofs, each work is signed "Hunt Slonem". Combining whimsical subject matter with a sophisticated contemporary aesthetic, "Saturia" makes a compelling statement in both modern and traditional art collections.

The sculpture includes a Certificate of Authenticity and a custom wooden box for secure storage and transportation.

About Hunt Slonem

Hunt Slonem (born 1951) is an American artist known for vibrant Neo-Expressionist paintings of birds, rabbits, and butterflies. Born in Kittery, Maine, Slonem spent parts of his childhood in Hawaii and later traveled in Central America, experiences that contributed to his enduring interest in tropical wildlife and the natural world. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Tulane University in 1973 and studied painting at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.

Slonem moved to New York in 1973 and established his professional career there during the 1970s. His first solo exhibition was held in New York in 1977. His paintings combine representational imagery with gestural brushwork, saturated color, and repeated forms, creating compositions that move between recognizable subjects and abstraction. Birds, rabbits, and butterflies have remained central subjects throughout his career, with his paintings often emphasizing repetition, rhythm, texture, and color.

In addition to painting, Slonem has worked in sculpture and printmaking and has undertaken large-scale mural projects. His work has been exhibited internationally and is represented in numerous museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. His career also includes numerous grants and awards, including recognition from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
