About Bob Ross

Ross remained devoted to landscape painting throughout his career, creating approximately 30,000 works. His paintings are filled with trees, clouds, lakes, streams, and the occasional cabin. Known for his deep environmentalism, he frequently included small animals in his art and often brought them to the studio. Interestingly, human figures rarely appeared in his works. Ross used the "wet on wet" or "Alla Prima" technique, a method dating back to the Renaissance. Despite his significant impact, Ross's style is hard to categorize within contemporary art; it is closest to Pop Art due to his celebrity status and the context of his creations. Apart from the early gold pans he distributed in Alaska, he never really sold his works.

Over twenty years after his death, Ross remains an Internet sensation. In 2015, over 400 episodes of "The Joy of Painting" were added to his official YouTube channel. In 2016, his series "Beauty is Everywhere" began streaming on Netflix. Numerous series have paid homage to Ross, and Google regularly features him in Google Doodles and birthday tributes.

Ross was a calm and cheerful person who believed anyone could paint with enough practice. "We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents", he used to say, and people loved him for it.

Born as Robert Norman Ross in Daytona Beach, Florida, on October 29, 1942, he passed away from lymphoma on July 4, 1995, at the age of 52.
