Dale Chihuly's Baltic Amber Chandelier is an extraordinary work hand-blown glass art installation creation that embodies the artist's distinctive style and mastery of glassmaking. Measuring a massive 6.5 feet in length and 5 feet in width, this chandelier is a breathtaking statement piece. The chandelier's grand scale makes it ideal for large spaces, from soaring entryways to expansive galleries, where its beauty can be fully appreciated.

Crafted circa 2004, the Baltic Amber Chandelier features an exquisite blend of colors—-rich gold, warm amber, and delicate white—-that shimmer and glow in the light. The chandelier's teardrop-shaped glass pieces are skillfully arranged in a swirling composition that evokes the fluidity of water and the organic forms of nature. These elegant shapes, combined with the warm color palette, create a mesmerizing visual effect that is both sophisticated and versatile, seamlessly fitting into various architectural and interior design styles.

The chandelier's name, Baltic Amber, references the glowing, fossilized resin found in the Baltic region, known for its deep, golden hues. This natural inspiration is reflected in the piece, as the amber-colored glass elements capture light beautifully, creating an ethereal ambiance. The interplay of the gold, white, and amber tones gives the chandelier a timeless appeal, while the teardrop shapes add a contemporary touch. With its monumental size, expert craftsmanship, and stunning visual impact, the Baltic Amber Chandelier is a remarkable work of art that transforms any space into a masterpiece.

Accompanied by the original gallery sales receipt as well as a certificate of authenticity from Modern Artifact, this chandelier is a certified original, authentic work of glass art by Dale Chihuly. We have a team of certified, experienced professionals who are able to handle packaging, shipping, and on-site installation.

About Dale Chihuly

Dale Chihuly is a pioneering force in contemporary glass art, renowned for his monumental sculptures and breathtaking installations that captivate audiences around the world. His name is synonymous with iconic masterpieces, including the stunning ceiling at the Bellagio's Conservatory in Las Vegas and the magnificent Rotunda Chandelier at London's Victoria and Albert Museum. Chihuly's glass works are treasured by collectors and decorative arts enthusiasts for their extraordinary beauty and impeccable craftsmanship.

Though initially indifferent to formal education, Chihuly's artistic journey led him to prestigious graduate programs where he earned both scientific and artistic degrees in sculpture. His early interest in interior design and craft eventually gave way to a lifelong passion for glass. As a Fulbright Fellow in the late 1960s and an apprentice at the Venini Glass Factory in Venice, Chihuly immersed himself in the ancient art of Murano glassmaking. There, he honed his skills and redefined traditional glassblowing techniques, pushing the boundaries of the medium.

Chihuly's vast body of work spans a range of distinctive series, each reflecting his creative evolution. The Cylinders and Baskets from the 1970s showcase his early ingenuity, while the Macchia, Venetians, and Persians of the 1980s demonstrate his vibrant exploration of color and form. The Niijima Floats and Chandeliers from the 1990s, along with the Fiori series of the 2000s, cement his reputation as a visionary artist who continually expands the possibilities of glass.

For over three decades, Chihuly has led his team of artisans as artistic director, a role he took on after two accidents left him blind in one eye and unable to handle the blowing tube. Despite these challenges, his leadership has propelled his studio to new creative heights, allowing him to explore grand-scale projects while maintaining his distinctive style.

With his work housed in over 200 prominent decorative art collections and the recipient of twelve honorary doctorates, Dale Chihuly's legacy as a trailblazer in the world of glass art is firmly established. His work continues to inspire and awe, solidifying his place as one of the most visionary artists of our time.
