Jonas Wood's Untitled (2010) is a lithographic monoprint on wove paper that reflects the artist's sustained interest in translating familiar subject matter into graphic, planar form. Known for his engagement with still life, portraiture, and domestic interiors, Wood merges observation, memory, and art historical reference through a visual language defined by compressed space, patterned surfaces, and flattened perspective.

Monoprints occupy a distinct position within both printmaking and Wood's broader practice. Unlike traditional editions, each monoprint is unique, with variations in inking and process producing singular results. This work belongs to a rare series of only fifteen unique impressions, underscoring its scarcity within the artist's print output.

Measuring approximately 44 x 35 inches (sheet) and 40 x 32 inches (image), the work reflects the large scale typical of Wood's prints. The lower margin is signed, dated, and inscribed in pencil "JBRW 2010 XV", with a Cirrus Editions blind stamp at lower left and corresponding ink stamp and work number on the verso. Number XV from this series, the work stands apart from conventional editions due to its singularity. A gallery certificate of authenticity accompanies the piece.

As an early monoprint, this work offers insight into Wood's developing visual vocabulary and his engagement with lithographic processes in the early 2010s. Its synthesis of personal imagery, material culture, and historical reference situates it within his broader exploration of domestic subject matter.

About Jonas Wood

Jonas Wood (b. 1977, Boston) is a contemporary American artist recognized for his distinctive synthesis of figuration and modernist abstraction. He received a BA from Hobart and William Smith Colleges (1999) and an MFA from the University of Washington (2002), later establishing his practice in Los Angeles.

Wood's compositions are constructed through fragmentation and flattening, often drawing from personal photographs and collected imagery. His subjects—plants, interiors, portraits, and sports figures—are reconfigured into bold, pattern-driven arrangements that challenge conventional spatial depth.

His work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Hammer Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and is held in major collections such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Dallas Museum of Art, and The Broad. Through his focus on domesticity and everyday imagery, Wood contributes to an ongoing dialogue in contemporary painting around memory, space, and representation.
