Artist Bio
The late great George Rodrigue.  What an extremely interesting artist and transformation into the world of pop art just before his death.  The man was always a great artist.  He began painting in the late 60's.  At that time if you do your research you will see he was painting nothing more than Louisiana landscapes.  His skills eventually evolved to painting family gatherings scenes from the late 19th and early 20th century.  All of which were inspired by his roots growing up in Louisiana.  Mind you a lot of this work wasn't his most famous, but was also world renowed and won aklades from from here to France!     His transformation continued and went on to painting the posters for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festivals.  What happens next is the sort of thing that creates legends.  George had opened up a gallery in New Orleans.  He had sold one painting there over a 6 month period.  He couldn't figure out a way to get people in the door.   He knew was a well awarded artist.  A person of great skill.   It was at this time that George let loose with his brush and creativity and the blue dog arrived.  In 1989 after trying to conceptualize a new concept for the failing gallery George took his Loup-garou (werewolf) idea and added a twist.  He used the shape of his since passed dog Tiffany attached to the photos above.  He used the wild fur of a werewolf and started to paint the ghost of Tiffany over his landscapes.  He filled his gallery with this art and suddenly started to stop people in their tracks.  Out of curiosity they were wondering who or what was the blue dog.  George never gave a firm answer and we only know of the influences.  Every time he painted the blue dog he thought of shapes and colors and what you see is what you get.   Eventually he didn't paint his landscapes at all.  He went on to add creative titles to his pieces like you can run, but you can't hide, don't turn your back on your troubles, cause they just multiply, and on.  The rest is just history, his creativity and what happened in this career will be of interest indefinitely.   Just think there are many talented artists out there.  So many of them that are so close to reaching their creative motivation.  George was one of the luck who reached the ultimate in his career and found his calling!  Sadly, George passed in December 2013.
